गकारं परमेशानि ! पञ्चदेवात्मकं सदा ।
निर्गुणं त्रिगुणोपेतं निरीहं निर्म्मलं सदा ॥
पञ्चप्राणमयं वर्णं सर्व्वशक्त्यात्मकं प्रिये ! ।
अरुणादित्यसङ्काशां कुण्डलीं प्रणमाम्यहम् ।
gakAraM parameshAni ! pa~nchadevAtmakaM sadA |
nirguNaM triguNopetaM nirIhaM nirmmalaM sadA ||
pa~nchaprANamayaM varNaM sarvvashaktyAtmakaM priye ! |
aruNAdityasa~NkAshAM kuNDalIM praNamAmyaham |
Ga kaara is head of Paramesha. Also the essence of five elements. It is attributeless. beyong the three gunas. beyond time. fault less. it is essence of five pranas. source of all energies. To that which is illuminous like Sun, base of Kundalini I offer salutations.
The below mantra is from Ganapathi Atharvaseersha Upanishad:
गँ गणपतये नमः (ga.N gaNapataye namaH)
गँ = ग् + अ+ ँ (g + A + ँ)
अ (A) kaara is Siva; the chandra bindu ( ँ) is universal mind and bindu that is potential energy encompassing the three energies(Ichha, Jnana, Kriya). ग् (g) (with out swara or the vowel) indicates abidance in Self (un-manifest + manifest)
Lord Ganapathi therefore is Self and गँ is the pranava ॐ.
The upanishad says:
gakaarah puurva ruupam. Akaro madhyama ruupam. Anuswarah aantya ruupam. binduh uttara ruupam. (part of 7th anuvaaka)
Another meaning is:
विशेषेण नयते सः the one who leads intellect is Vinayaka or Ganesha.
From Sri Rudram, we have:
Vraatebhyo Vraatapatibhyaschavo namah
He is the one who is Vraatapati. The word Vraata is related to the word Vritti. from the Sanskrit root Vru (वृ) meaning to choose. The choice should be based on finely tuned intellect. Lord Ganesha is that makes you to choose.
